The Iconic rapper known as DMX has passed away.
DMX (Earl Simmons) passed away on April 9th at the White Plains Hospital in New York after suffering an overdose which led to a heart attack just a week ago on April 2nd.
His family released the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,"
"Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end…He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him."
DMX (Dark Man X…for those of you who didn’t know), started his rap career in the early ’90s when he released his debut album “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot” in 1998.
He would eventually sign with the Ruffhouse Records label.
His smash hit single “Ruff Ryders Anthem” shot him into stardom.
DMX sold millions of albums, boosted by smash hits like “Get At Me Dog”, “Party Up” and of course… “X Gon’ Give it to Ya” in 2003.
Simmons was also a pretty impressive actor starring in films such as “Cradle 2 The Grave”, “Romeo Must Die” and “Exit Wounds”.
Numerous fans and celebrities have shown their support for DMX. He will not be forgotten.
